Application Procedure

Who can apply to the B.Sc. in ICT program?

Qualifications of Applicants

  1. A Thai student with a high-school (M.6) or its equivalent is eligible to apply with major in Mathematics and Science or Art-Mathematics only.
  2. An applicant must pass the ICT direct entrance examination, or take the national entrance examination (Central Admission) and submit the scores to the Faculty of ICT’s Admission Office within scheduled application period.  The subjects required in direct examination are Mathematics, English, Physics, and Chemistry.
  3. Applicants, who graduated from overseas or from an international school in Thailand, must possess a secondary school (M. 6) certificate or its equivalent* as issued or certified by the Ministry of Education, Thailand.
  4. A high school certificate/diploma from an accredited institution or GCSE, IGCSE, or GCE “O” level of not less than C in five subjects. The three of the five subjects must consist of Mathematics, English, and one science subject (Chemistry, Physics or Science).
  5. Transcript issued and certified by the high school that the students are graduating or graduated from.  In the case that the student is graduating, the transcript that contains grades for four or five semesters with GPA above 2.0 is allowed to be submitted.
  6. All applicants must be free from infectious diseases, or other handicaps that can hinder their study.
  7. All applicants must be able to bear all expenses related to their study.
  8. All applicants must have good manners and testify to the university that they will be attentive, make fullest use of their capability in their study, and strictly conform to the university’ s rules and regulations.

Admission Methods

An applicant may apply for admission through one of the following methods:

1. Direct Admission:

An applicant is required to take a written examination and interview according to the admission criteria of the Faculty of ICT, Mahidol University. The final decision will be in decision of the Board of Directors of the curriculum of the faculty. Written examinations are including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English.

2. International Admission:

An applicant is required to submit the TOEFL score (at least 500 PBT/173 CBT/70 iBT) or IELTS score (at least 5.0). The SAT score is not required but nice to have. The date of the score must be within 2 years of the application date. Note that international tuition fees will be applied to admitted applicants who apply through the international admission method.

3. Central Admission:

An applicant is required to submit the test scores of O-NET, GAT and PAT which is held by the Commission on Higher Education (CHE). A candidate must follow the National Central Admission schedule at www.cuas.or.th

How to Apply for Direct and International Admission?

  1. Apply in Person
  2. Applicant can fill the application form and submit it along with required documents. Applicant can pay cash at the ICT counter, Faculty of ICT, Salaya Campus or at the Faculty of ICT, Computing Center Building, Payathai Campus.

  3. Applying Online
  4. Applicant can apply online by going to our website at http://admission.ict.mahidol.ac.th/online/. When applying online, you must also print out a copy of the complete form and forward it to the ICT counter along with the required documents.

What are the required documents

Applicant must provide the following documents at registration:

  1. A photocopy of citizen identification card (for Thai students) or valid passport (for foreign students)
  2. A photocopy of resident registration (for Thai students)
  3. A photocopy of high school diploma or other equivalent documents. A student who is in the final year of high school can submit a letter certified by the high school that the student will graduate by the start of the first semester of the Bachelor of Science in ICT program at the Faculty of ICT, Mahidol University or submit the student certification letter (ปพ.7).
  4. Transcript with GPA greater than 2.0.
    • If the applicant is currently studying in the final year of high school, the applicant can submit the transcript that contains grades in 4 semesters for admission round 1, or 5 semesters for admission round 2.   Note that the Faculty of ICT only admits students majoring in Math-Sciences and Math-Art only.
  5. 1" photographs taken not more than six months prior to the application date.

**All documents must be printed as hardcopy and certified by the applicant’s signature. The documents must submitted to the Admission Office of the Faculty of ICT before the application deadline. If the applicant has any problem concerning the submission of the documents, please contact the Admission Office (tel. 02-849-6399, or 02-441-0909). Otherwise, the application will be cancelled

How do I submit the required documents?

Applicants can fill out the application form and submit it along with required documents. Applicants can pay cash at the ICT’s counter, Salaya Campus or Phayathai Campus.

What is the application fee?

The application fee is 600 Baht.

Payment methods

  1. Applying online: An applicant can download and print out a pay-in form from Faculty of  ICT’ s admission online website (www.ict.mahidol.ac.th ) and pay at any branch of Siam Commercial Bank
  2. Applying in person: An applicant cans pay cash at the ICT counter, ICT Building, Mahidol University (Salaya campus or Phayathai campus).

What kind of pictures that the Faculty of ICT accept for submission?

Thai student should wear high school uniform. The student should face the camera directly. The background of the picture should be solid light blue, blue or grey. The picture should not be more than 6 months old. The picture should be saved in JPEG/JPG format.

How many students are admitted each year?

Approximately 300 students are admitted per year

Should I fill my application form in Thai or English?

Either Thai or English but only one language should be used throughout the application form.

How do I modify my information in the Online Admission System?

Please follow the following steps (Thai applicants only)

  1. Click on the menu called "online application"
  2. enter your "username" (Thai national ID or Passport number) twice.
  3. Enter the "password" given on the first application registration. If the password is forgotten, click on the "Forget Password" link and proceed according to the onscreen instructions.
  4. Click on the "Edit" button and then modify the information.
  5. Click "Submit" button when complete.

What subjects are covered in the ICT Direct Examination?

ICT Direct Examination consists of 4 subjects which are Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English. The Mathematics exam is fill-in question type of exam and requires fully execute demonstration for the solution of each question. All exams covered knowledge that students have learnt in Matthayom 3, 4, 5 and 6 (grade 9 to 12) and the difficulty of the exam is in the same level as GAT and PAT exam offered in the National Central Admission.

What language is used for the ICT Direct Examination tests?

The ICT Direct Examination tests are offered in Thai for Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. However, the English version of the exam can be requested. The English examination is only offered in English.

What standardized test scores are required to be submitted to the Faculty of ICT for International Admission?

Only English standardized test scores (TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, or SAT1 scores) are required to be submitted to the Faculty of ICT. The minimum requirements for the scores are as follows:

Can the English standardized test scores be exempted if I graduate from high school in foreign countries that use English?

Only foreign students who grow up in North America, England, Australia and New Zealand can be exempted from the English standardized test submission.

Studying at the Faculty of ICT

What are the differences between the Bachelor of Science in ICT program and Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering program?

Students are recommended to review and compare courses offered by the Bachelor of Science in ICT program and Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering program. While both programs offer ICT knowledge in both hardware and software, the Bachelor of Science in ICT program focuses more on software and the Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering program focuses more on hardware. If students would like to pursue a career in software development, the Faculty of ICT offers more comprehensive knowledge and training to prepare the students for their career in software-based ICT while learning about business and management.

What scholarships are provided?

Does Mahidol University provide dormitories for students?

Mahidol University provides on-campus dormitories for students on the first-come first-serve basis.  The priorities are given to the first year students. The request for specific building and roommates will not be entertained.
