Frequently Asked Questions about Master's Admission

 

Qualifications:

Q : Can I apply to the program if I do not have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science?

A : No. We also require that a candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in the area related to computing. If you don’t have a bachelor’s degree in the area related to computing, you should have some computer or IT background such as at least 15 credits in computer or IT-related courses or 2-3 years of experience working in computing or IT related industry.

Q : Is it necessary for an applicant to have programming skills before applying to the program?

A : Yes, it is necessary because the programming skills will be used for completing the course projects, thesis or project work.

Q : Can I apply if my GPA does not meet the GPA requirement listed on the web page?

A : Yes, you can apply if you have strength in other areas. The admission committee will consider your application in all aspects including work and university project experience.

Q : Does a Thai applicant have to submit recommendation letters?

A : No but it is nice to have.

Q : Do foreign applicants apply differently from the Thai applicants?

A : No. All applicants must apply directly at the website of the Faculty of Graduate Studies http://www.grad.mahidol.ac.th

Q : Does the Faculty of ICT admit students into the Master of Science program in the 2nd semester?

A : No.

Q : Does an applicant have to submit TOEFL or IELTS score?

A : No. In addition to TOEFL and IELTS scores, an applicant can take the MU GRAD TEST (English test) arranged by the Faculty of Graduate Studies for the English admission requirement.

Q : Do I need to submit the financial statement?

A : No, Thai applicants do not need to submit financial statement.

Scholarship

Q : What scholarships are available and what are the terms and conditions of the scholarships?

A : Scholarship may be provided after the first semester of your study and it is a case-by-case basis. The decision is made by the Faculty Committee and based on your academic performance during your study (e.g. GPA of first semester is above 3.6) and your academic background.

Q : How to apply for a scholarship?

A : An applicant can submit a request for a scholarship to the Faculty of ICT.
