Samart Innovation Awards

Samart Innovation Awards is a competition initiated by Samart Coorporation Public Company Limited. It is an innovative software development competition that encourage students to apply ideas into moblie software development.

On November 27, 2008, Mahidol University students won the Gold Prize for the Samart Innovation Awards 2008 in the category of mobile phone application. The students not only receive the prize money of 100,000 baht, but were also provided an opportunity to study IT and software industry outside Thailand. The students were also invited to participate in the entrepreneur project and join the software incubation center for one year. The project was developed by Suleeporn Sujichantararat, Neera Sriwareerat and Jirayu Komanpichai. The students are currently in their third year in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) program. The Track Me project is a mobile application which locks the operations of the mobile phone when it is lost or stolen, and tracks the location of mobile phones. The location and the phone number of the stolen phone will then be sent to its original owner via text messaging without the knowledge of the new user regardless of the new SIM card.
