On 29 August 2020, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), led by Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, the Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sudsanguan Ngamsuriyaroj, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vasaka Visoottiviseth, and ICT Mahidol instructors team, together with Digital Economy Promotion Agency (Depa), led by Miss Kasama Kongsmak, Executive Vice President for Policy and Security, and Mr. Jakkanit Kananurak, Director of Promotion and Support for Quality of Life and Security Development, organized a training on “Skill Development in Cybersecurity”, under the project “Upskill Digital Manpower for the Digital SMEs”, via online platform for 2 days, and 1 day onsite, at ICT Building, Salaya campus.
The COVID-19 pandemic has massively driven people to digitalization. Consumers are now adopting digital technologies at a rapid pace; they use it for searching, learning and purchasing products online, and this may inevitably result in security threats. Therefore, Depa and ICT Mahidol, held this training aiming to upskill the cybersecurity capabilities of the SMEs sector, so that they can cope with such cyber threats.
During the morning session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vasaka Visoottiviseth, gave basic knowledge of cybersecurity including: Network, Web Technology, Malware, Virus, Worm, Trojans, Ransomware, Adware, Spyware, Botnet, Phishing, Denial of Service (DoS), and DDoS to all participants.
In the afternoon, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sudsanguan Ngamsuriyaroj, demonstrated how to prevent and deal with cyberattacks, and gave lectures on the Protection of Personal Information Act, and the Cybersecurity Act.
The next training, which will be held on Saturday, 5 September, 2020, will emphasize on Network Security Audits, Identity Verification, and Protecting Information against Cybercrime. The participants will learn to apply cybersecurity knowledge to their work and daily life.
