Wednesday 3rd – Friday 5th July 2019 – the Faculty of ICT, Mahidol University led by the Academic Services Department staff held a contemplative and transformative activities for the academic year 2019 entitled “MUICT New Generation II” at Buffalo Village, Si Prachan District and Watsamko School, Samko Districk, Suphanburi Province. This activity was attended by 36 first-year students, 10 second-year and third-year students, as well as some MUICT instructors and staff. Its aim was to develop students’ potentiality and capability by way of contemplative education and transformative learning in order that students can adapt this knowledge in alignment to Mahidol Learning Outcomes; being a good person, being an intelligent person and being a pleasant person.

The activities done in the “MUICT New Generation II” event were as follows:

  • Learning the rural life both in theory and practical part. For example, at the Buffalo Village, students studied about Thai people’s residences (Thai Houses) in the past and the main occupation of Thai people; which is rice farming; in which students learned about area preparation, plowing, sowing, planting, harvesting and rice processing.
  • Voluntary activities at Watsamko School such as exhibition boards (about computer, science, English and sports), school’s landscape improvement, computers maintenance and installation, internet system and computer network system improvement, 10 computers donation, science classroom cleaning, lunch cooking with the school’s cooking team as well as recreational activity under CS Unplug concept. During the evening, there was a contemplative activity which was led by Dr. Petch Sajjacholapunt at Jureepunsuk Resort. In this activity, students learned how to reflect their feelings and opinions as well as practiced deep listening, communication with others and team communication.
