“Team NAKAMA” from ICT Mahidol, whose work “I Wheel Go”, won an Honorable Mention Award from the Moral Hackathon 2022: Good Moral, Good Society

The Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol) would like to express its congratulations to “Team NAKAMA”, which is comprised of Mr. Thanaboon Sapmontree, Mr. Supakarn Laorattanakul, and Mr. Thanapat Jumnongrat, 4th year ICT Program students, whose work “I Wheel Go”, supervised by Dr. Siripen Pongpaichet, Assistant Dean of the Information Systems, won an Honorable Mention Award from the Moral Hackathon 2022: Good Moral, Good Society. The event was held online via Facebook Page: Thai PBS, and Moral Spaces on 1 October 2022.

The awarded project, “I Wheel Go,” is a mapping application that will assist people with disabilities and the general public in building an inclusive society and promote equal accessibility while traveling. This application provides accessible routes and highlights obstacles along the way for people with disabilities. Users are also encouraged to report any route obstacles encountered while using the application for the benefit of other users. Users can also use the application to chat with people from the same community as well as other interested people.

“The Moral Hackathon 2022”, under the concept “Make A Change: Good Moral, Good Society”, aims to encourage the youth and the general public who are interested in social innovation development to create new innovation and technology for solving moral problems in society. The competition also intends to promote positive behavior in Thai society by focusing on core concepts that are consistent with and linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The judging criteria are divided into three sections: 1) being new and meeting the needs of society; 2) being realistic and able to contribute to society; and 3) leading positive social change.
