ICT Mahidol joined the Mahidol – Bremen Strategic Partnership Agreement Virtual Signing Ceremony

On 16 February, 2021 – Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (ICT Mahidol), together with Professor Dr. Peter Fereed Haddawy, Deputy Dean for Research Development, as well as ICT Mahidol instructors and staff, joined the signing ceremony of Strategic Partnership Agreement between Mahidol University and University of Bremen. This agreement is rather different from a normal MOU. It is a strategic partnership agreement and its objectives were to develop the quality of higher education, to strengthen joint research and innovation capacities in various fields, as well as to expand new areas of cooperation.

      The ceremony was held online via Zoom and attended by Prof. Banchong Mahaisavariya, President of Mahidol University, along with Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Vice President for International Relations and Corporate Communication, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bernd Scholz-Reiter, President of University of Bremen, Dr. Georg Verweyen, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Prof. Dr. Eva-Maria Feichtner, Vice President International and Diversity, University of Bremen, and Dr. Annette Lang, Head of International Relation Office, University of Bremen, Germany.

       During this occasion, Professor Dr. Peter Fereed Haddawy addressed a congratulatory remark and also cited various achievements of the cooperation between ICT Mahidol and the University of Bremen throughout the years, which includes: Student Exchange, Summer Internship, Dual Degree Doctoral Program, Joint Research, and Mahidol- Bremen Medical Informatics Research Unit (MIRU). Mahidol University, in collaboration with the University of Bremen, is planning to form an international consortium on the innovative use of ICT to aid in controlling malaria and other vector-borne diseases in July 2021 at Bremen. In addition, this strategic partnership agreement is a very special designation, each university will integrate the other into its long-term strategic planning. Moreover, this agreement will lead to the establishment of a Mahidol-Bremen board which will create initiatives and oversee progress.
