The Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), extends its sincere congratulations to fourth-year students of the Bachelor of Science Program in Information and Communication Technology (ICT International Program) —Mr. Sittikorn Maneewong, Mr. Napat Jirataranon, and Mr. Natthaphat Pintip—on receiving the Gold Medal at the Thailand New Gen Inventors Award 2026 (I–New Gen Award 2026).The award was conferred in the higher education level, under the category of Artificial Intelligence Technology and Smart Devices, for their innovative project entitled “Dental Caries Detection System for Panoramic Radiographs.” The project was supervised by Dr. Sirawich Vachmanus, an instructor in the Computer Science Academic Group at ICT Mahidol, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suchaya Damrongsri, Deputy Dean for Quality Development at the Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University.
The results were officially announced and the awards presented on January 9, 2026 during Thailand Inventors’ Day 2026, organized by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. The event was held from January 5 – 9, 2026 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC), Bangna.
The Thailand New Gen Inventors Award 2026 (I–New Gen Award 2026), a youth-level invention and innovation competition, was established to promote and support young talents with exceptional abilities in invention, research, and innovation. It encouraged participants to develop inventions and innovations that generate tangible benefits and can be further advanced for practical application across various dimensions. In addition, the program aimed strengthen mechanisms that connect talented young innovators with career pathways in research and innovation across the manufacturing, service, social, and community sectors. The competition also provided a platform for students to present and disseminate their inventions and innovations to the public, facilitating progression toward participation in competitions at both national and international levels.
