ICT Mahidol Hosted the MUICT-AST Tech Competition “Byte: Brain-Boosting Games”

On September 27, 2025, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), organized the “MUICT-AST Tech Competition”, a competition to create digital board games under the theme “Byte-sized Brain Games” for young developers. The event was officially opened by Asst. Prof. Dr. Tipajin Thaipisutikul, Assistant Dean for Academic Services and Technology Transfer, at Room IT 204, ICT Mahidol, Salaya Campus.

Throughout the morning and afternoon sessions, participating teams presented their digital board game prototypes and answered questions from the judging panel. The game concepts were required to align with the theme “Byte-sized Brain Games” and demonstrate creativity and innovation in applications or software. The judging panel consisted of Asst. Prof. Dr. Tipajin Thaipisutikul, Assistant Dean for Academic Services and Technology Transfer; Wudhichart Sawangphol, Assistant Dean for Research; Dr. Pilailuck Panphattarasap and Dr. Sirawich Vachmanus, Instructors in the Computer Science Academic Group at ICT Mahidol; and Ms. Pafan Julsaksrisakul, Head of Design and Marketing, Summit Industech Co., Ltd.

The awards were presented by all five judges at the Innovative Space on the 1st floor of the Faculty of ICT, as follows:

  • First Prize (Winner) — Certificate and cash prize of THB 5,000, awarded to Team “Cybase” from Bodindecha (Sing Singhaseni) School and Srinakharinwirot University Prasarnmit Demonstration School (Secondary), consisting of:

  • First Runner-up — Certificate and cash prize of THB 3,000, awarded to Team “Megamind” from Mathayom Taksin Rayong School, consisting of:

The “Byte-sized Brain Games” contest was open to Grade 10–12 high school students, vocational certificate students, and homeschoolers. The objective was to encourage and enhance students’ skills in developing digital board game prototypes by transforming the experience of traditional board games into applications or software playable on digital devices such as computers, tablets, smartphones, or even gaming consoles. The key idea was to simulate and expand the capabilities of board games in the digital world while preserving the essence of traditional board game play. This year, 24 teams were selected to compete out of a total of 84 applicant teams from high schools nationwide.
