ICT Mahidol organizes academic seminar on the topic of “Responsible and Ethical AI for Future Actions”

From April 5th to April 29th, 2024, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology at Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol) is hosting an academic seminar on the topic of “Responsible and Ethical AI for Future Actions” as part of the research project of the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN). The seminar features distinguished professors and experts both domestically and internationally as speakers, providing knowledge on ethics and responsibilities concerning the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in an online format via the Zoom program.

Throughout the 4-week duration, lectures on various topics are conducted as follows:

  • April 5th, 2024: “Understanding Generative AI technology to Effectively Analyze Its Potential Benefits and Risks” by Professor Claudia Camacho-Zuñiga, Tecnologico de Monterrey, Mexico.
  • April 6th, 2024: “Global Governance of AI and Ethical Principles” by Dr. Michal Natorski, Maastricht University and Research Associate at the United Nations University MERIT, Netherlands
  • April 11th, 2024: “Critical Dataset Studies: How to Ethically Collect Data for Training Sets” by Dr. Fabio Morreale, the University of Auckland, New Zealand
  • April 15th, 2024: “AI and Health” by Assoc. Prof. Amy Chan, the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and “Implications of Brain-Computer Interface and Artificial Intelligence on the Future Workforce” by Dr. Avinash Singh, University of Technology Sydney, Australia
  • April 18th, 2024: “AI Ethics in Healthcare: Challenges, Issues, and Best Practices” by Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, Dean of the ICT Faculty, along with “Using AI Ethically in the Education Sector” by Ms. Irene Esther Mutuzo, Makerere University, Uganda, and “The Different Normative Constraints on Responsible AI: Law, Society, and Ethics” by Prof. Tom Stoneham, the University of York, England
  • April 19th, 2024: “Fundamentals of Responsible: From the General View of AI/ML practitioners” by Dr. Tipajin Thaipisutikul, Assistant Dean for Academic Services and Technology Transfer, ICT Mahidol, and “Responsible Innovation in AI” by Dr. Yat Ming Ooi, the University of Auckland, New Zealand
  • April 22nd, 2024: “Responsible AI: A Legal and Ethical Perspective” by Dr. Benjamin Liu, the University of Auckland, New Zealand
  • April 29th, 2024: “Thailand’s AI Governance Approach” by Dr. Sak Segkhoonthod, Director of the Digital Government Development Agency (Public Organization) (DGA), Thailand
