On January 8, 2026, Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya graciously appointed Ms. Ratirod Chulajata as her representative to preside over the opening ceremony of “Thailand Inventors’ Day 2026” and to present the “National Research Awards for Fiscal Year 2026.” The event was organized by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), and was held from January 5 to 9, 2026, at Event Hall 101–104, Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC), Bangna, Bangkok.
On this occasion, Prof. Chagriya Kitiyakara, MBBS (Lond), FRCP, Vice President for Research at Mahidol University, graciously presented floral bouquets to congratulate the award recipients from Mahidol University. In addition, Dr. Wudhichart Sawangphol, Assistant Dean for Research of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), represented the Dean in jointly presenting congratulatory bouquets ICT Mahidol’s award recipients. This year, a total of three faculty members from the Faculty of ICT received the awards, as follows:
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Worapan Kusakunniran, Chair of the Doctor of Philosophy Program in Computer Science, and Head of the Medical Informatics Research Clusters (MI) and the Machine Vision and Information Transfer Research Cluster (MVIT), received the NRCT Quality Achievement Award (Research Category) in the field of Information Technology and Communication Arts Discipline for the research project titled “Development of Automatic Machine for Grade Assessment and Translucent Flesh Disorder Detection of Mangosteens from Capturing Images using Deep Learning and Image Processing based Approaches.” Mr. Kittikhun Thongkanchorn, Computer Technical Officer at ICT Mahidol and a member of the research team, received the congratulatory floral bouquet on his behalf.
- Dr. Pattaraporn Sangaroonsilp, an instructor in the Computer Science Program and a member of the Software Engineering and Business Analytics Research Cluster (SEBA), received the NRCT Quality Achievement Award (Dissertation Category) in the field of Information Technology and Communication Arts Discipline for the thesis titled “Supporting the Development and Management of Privacy-Aware Software Applications.”
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Akara Supratak, an instructor in the Computer Science Academic Group, received the Invention Award (Good Level) in the field of Information Technology and Communication Arts Discipline for the invention titled “CTnavi+: Brain CT Scan Interpretation Program for Stroke and Hydrocephalus.” The invention was developed in collaboration with Assoc. Prof. Dittapong Songsaeng, M.D., Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Natsuda Kaothanthong, Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology, Thammasat University.
In addition, fourth-year students from the Bachelor of Science Program in Information and Communication Technology (ICT International Program)—Mr. Sittikorn Maneewong, Mr. Napat Jirataranon, and Mr. Natthaphat Pintip—participated in the presentation of youth-level inventions and innovations under the project titled “Thailand New Gen Inventors Award 2026” (I–New Gen Award 2026), at the higher education level, in the Artificial Intelligence and Smart Devices category. The students presented their work, “Dental Caries Detection System for Panoramic Radiographs.” The project was supervised by Dr. Sirawich Vachmanus, an instructor in the Computer Science Academic Group, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suchaya Damrongsri, Deputy Dean for Quality Development, Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University.
