ICT Mahidol, Welcomed Executives from the Digital University Network for a Visit to the MU AI Center

On April 24, 2025, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), led by Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, the Dean of ICT Mahidol, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jarernsri Mitrpanont, Advisor to the Dean, and Lect. Pagaporn Pengsart, Deputy Dean for Infrastructure and Technology, extended a warm welcome to Prof. Dr. Vicharn Panich (Chairman of the Suranaree University of Technology Council), the executive board of Knowledge Network Institute of Thailand (KNIT), and 45 executives from various universities actively engaged in digital university operations. The reception was graciously hosted at the Grand Auditorium Room, 4th Floor, ICT Building, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus.

The visitation was part of a seminar and knowledge exchange activity under the project titled “Driving Thai Universities Toward Digital University,” which was organized by Mahidol University in collaboration with the Knowledge Network Institute of Thailand (KNIT) from April 24 to 25, 2025. The event aimed to explore Mahidol University’s best practices in its development towards becoming a digital university.

On this occasion, ICT Mahidol showcased research and innovations from the Mahidol University Artificial Intelligence Center (MU AI Center), which receives funding support from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI). Key projects showcased included:

  • VIS4ION: A real-time navigation assistance system for visually impaired individuals.
  • Automated Framework for AI Federated Learning in Medical Imaging: A system for collaborative AI learning using medical images.
  • Mednacea: A knowledge management platform for research outcomes from routine work of Thai public health practitioners.
  • MUGR: AI-CD Application: An AI-powered application for graduate curriculum design.
  • SiriBot: A chatbot developed by ICT Mahidol students from an AI Hackathon to enhance information inquiry services for hospitals.

Significantly, the visit served as part of efforts to enhance understanding of strategies for advancing the concept of “Digital University,” and to promote collaboration among leading universities to drive the sustainable development of Thai Higher Education. Moreover, it also underscored the cooperative synergy between the public sector and higher education institutions in driving innovation and enhancing the learning experiences of Thai universities toward a genuinely digital future.
