ICT Mahidol welcomed delegates from National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Japan for a visit and discussions on academic and research collaboration

On March 4, 2025, Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, along with faculty members from the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), warmly welcomed Dr. Jason H. Haga, Chief Senior Research Scientist, and Dr. Truong Thao Nguyen, Researcher, from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Japan, during their visit to ICT Mahidol for discussions on academic and research collaboration. The meeting took place in Meeting Room A1, 1st floor, ICT Mahidol, Salaya.

Participating faculty members included:

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Worapan Kusakunniran, Program Director of the Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science program and Research Cluster Head of MVIT and MI
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vasaka Visoottiviseth, Program Director of the M.Sc. in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance program
  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Mores Prachyabrued, Program Director of the M.Sc. in Game Technology and Gamification program and Director of the ImmerSense Laboratory
  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Morakot Choetkiertikul, Instructor in the Computer Science Group and member of the Software Engineering and Business Analytics Research Clusters (SEBA)
  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Srisupa Palakwangsa Na Ayudhya, Instructor in the Computer Science Group and member of the Software Engineering and Business Analytics Research Clusters (SEBA)
  • Dr. Pattaraporn Sangaroonsilp, Instructor in the Computer Science Group and member of the Software Engineering and Business Analytics Research Clusters (SEBA)

The primary objective of the meeting was to explore potential collaboration on a student exchange program between AIST and ICT Mahidol. Additionally, discussions were held regarding joint research initiatives with four ICT Mahidol research groups:

  • Medical Informatics Research Clusters (MI)
  • Machine Vision and Information Transfer (MVIT)
  • Software Engineering and Business Analytics (SEBA)
  • Software Engineering Research Unit (SERU)

On this occasion, the delegates also visited the research laboratories of the Faculty of ICT, including the Mahidol-Bremen Medical Informatics Research Unit (MIRU Lab), where Assoc. Prof. Dr. Worapan Kusakunniran introduced various research clusters, such as the Medical Informatics Research Cluster (MI), Machine Vision and Information Transfer (MVIT), Software Engineering and Business Analytics (SEBA), and the Software Engineering Research Unit (SERU). Additionally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vasaka Visoottiviseth provided an introduction to the Mahidol-AIST Research Unit (MARU Lab).

This visit marked an important step in strengthening academic and research ties between ICT Mahidol and AIST, fostering future collaboration in technology and innovation.
