Students need to regularly check for the news, particularly the urgent news, which is announced on this passive communication channels.
In this research project, the News Update System for ICT Students via Short Message Service (SMS) is designed and developed as a Web application. This research project aims to provide an additional active communication channel from ICT officers to students. This system allows ICT officers to specify the target group of students and predefine a schedule for news announcements. Furthermore, the system provides a backup function which will automatically send the news via e-mail. The system also provides functions for ICT officers to produce different kinds of summary reports such as the number of messages that have been sent successfully during a period of time.
