Automated Attendance Checking System via RFID and Fingerprint Technologies

ABSTRACT :

Traditional checking process for class attendance is often conducted manually. In view of that, an instructor will call out students’ name one by one and check whether each of them is present in the class. Such a traditional attendance checking process can be time-consuming and inconvenient. It can also be inaccurate, especially when some students leave right after the checking is done and not stay until the class is actually finished. This project aims at using radio-frequency identification (RFID) and fingerprint technologies to resolve the problems of traditional attendance checking as mentioned. RFID is an automatic identification method, using remotely retrieving data on devices called RFID tags. It is widely used in many kinds of location tracking applications, such as product tracking and logistics. We use the combination of RFID and fingerprint technologies to securely identify a student and keep tracks of their present in buildin! g and class rooms. By doing so, attendance records can be automatically derived from the tracking records of RFID and fingerprint identification records of students.
