A PROTOTYPE OF WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORK FOR HOME AUTOMATION

Abstract

In nowadays, there are many accidents those occur in a house which can be serious or not be serious. Everybody does not want those accidents occur. There are some problems for other smart house. First, there is more expensive cost of smart house. Existing smart houses need specific electric appliances. However, then many users cannot afford other smart house. Second, fix sensors location in smart house. Wired sensors have to be built and designed when constructing the house. It is difficult to apply with an old house. There are a lot of cables throughout house.

This home automation uses wireless sensor. We use motion sensor to detect a movement in the area that we want for turn on or turn off a light automatically. We use temperature sensor to measure a temperature in Celsius degree in order to users can know a temperature in each room for check about a temperature is too low or too high or normal. We use smoke sensor to detect a smoke to trigger a fire alarm. Users can set a time and let this system work automatically or users can force to control electric appliances by themselves via web interface or mobile phone. For software, we use MySQL and MySQL Workbench to do a database. We use PHP to do a web page. We use Apache to do a web server. We use JavaEE and J2ME to do a mobile phone application. We use Netbean to implement a J2ME coding.

This Home Automation can give more convenience to users, and users can easily manage electric appliances in a house or buildings. This home automation can help users to save a charge cost. Besides, users can check history data to estimate and plan about style of a way of life of members in a house or find abnormity that may be occur in a house. There are some future plans those we will do them. First, implementation turns on/off the light via server and sensors in three rooms. Second, implementation monitor about temperature in Celsius degree in any rooms. Third, using motion’ sensors to detect people in three rooms.
