Abstract

Smart phones became more popular and started to be common communication devices for both sighted and visually-impaired people. This leads to the rapid growth of the application market especially game applications. However, most games are designed and developed for sighted people, whereas a few are designed and developed for visually-impaired people whose demand is still promising.

This project aims to develop a game application on smart phone particularly for entertaining visually-impaired people. The game is designed with regards to the rhythm game’s concept with Text-to-Speech technology and tactile signal as human user interface. It is called “AniMoo” where users can play and enjoy animal sounds with background music. In addition to support visually-impaired people, AniMoo has a colorful graphical interface which is appropiate for children to play the game, develop their listening skill, and learn vocabularies from animal pictures and sounds. AniMoo is expected to be a motivation for developers to develop games for visually-impaired people.
