Abstract

In Thailand, two Health Information Systems (HIS) widely used in health units and hospitals are Health Center Information System (HCIS) and Hospital Experience (HOSxP). HCIS and HOSxP have been developed to operate health information efficiently and effectively. However, there is no middleware to transfer health data between these two systems. Eventhough the HL7 standard has been developed to be a standard of health information data, but no software implemented it using the HL7 standard.

This project will develop the middleware based on the HL7 standard to transfer patient information between HCIS and HOSxP. But, the two systems use different databases. HOSxP uses MySQL 5.1 and HCIS uses Microsoft Access 2003. Another issue is the differences in names, formats, and numbers of attributes in patient related tables containing similar information. Our middleware can assist the transfer of patient information between several health units and hospitals.
