Abstract

Nowaday, many network devices support only the internet protocol version 4 (ipv4). As we know, ipv4 is completely exhausted and we are prepairing for a new thechnology like the internet protocol version 6 (ipv6). Therefore, a new network monitoring tools have to be upgreaded or implemented new functions that can support ipv6. In this project, we developn the ipv6 supported network monitoring system (6mon), which is a tool to check whether devices in a network system can support ipv6. 6mon also monitors the network system by analyzing network traffic and compare the usage of ipv4 and ipv6. We implement our system as a plug-in of network health analysis & monitoring (netham) which is a network monitoring system developed by Nectec. Because netham does not target on ipv6, our function may fulfill that part.
