Abstract

Technology is currently used to improve convenience within the transportation industry, and can be clearly demonstrated within methods of transport such as the BTS and the MRT in order to provide an option for cars, the self driving car has been developed to provide a safe alternative for car users. The self driving system allows human operators to provide a destination and the car will identify a path with the fewest obstacles during the journey so that the number car accidents will be reduced. The driving environment is simulated by separating the colors of the objects from the road and determining a path based on the location of detected objects. A camera is attached on the roof of the test vehicle (car), in order to clearly view obstacles directly in front of the car. The camera will detect all objects that do not match the color of the road and determine them to be obstacles. The self driving car will then evaluate the environment, to determine the size and location of such obstacles and find the optimum path. This path will command the car, and it will automatically avoid the obstacles. If a detected obstacle is recognized as being larger than the default threshold, a message stating there is “no clear path available”, and the system will halt movement. The self driving car system will provide a new, safe driving experience to the new of car users.
