ICT Mahidol organized a seminar on “Where Are We and Where Should We Go? Software Quality Improvement for Software SMEs in Thailand”

22 June 2022 – The Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Thanwadee Sunetnanta, Dr. Morakot Choetkiertikul, and Dr. Chaiyong Ragkhitwetsagul, instructors, organized a seminar on “Where Are We and Where Should We Go? Software Quality Improvement for Software SMEs in Thailand” in the “The 19th International Joint Conference on Computer Science and Software Engineering (JCSSE 2022)”, at Silpakorn Univesity, Thaphra Palace campus, as well as simultaneously broadcasted via Zoom and Facebook Page: Software Engineering Research Unit at MUICT.

At the beginning of the event, Assoc. Prof. Jens Krinke, UCL, UK, and Dr. Chaiyong Ragkhitwetsagul, instructor of ICT Mahidol, addressed warm welcome speeches to all participants. After that, Dr. Chaiyong Ragkhitwetsagul presented the research project, “Automated Software Engineering for Thailand Software Industry”. Respectively, there was a panel discussion titled “Where Are We and Where Should We Go? Software Quality Improvement for Software SMEs in Thailand,” moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Thanwadee Sunetnanta, and Dr. Chaiyong Ragkhitwetsagul, in which four representatives from IT leading companies shared their experiences using Automated Software Engineering tools (ASE tools) like SonarQube and Unit Testing Frameworks in their companies’ software development processes. The names of the representatives were as follows:

  • Mr. Chatpong Suteesuksataporn, Managing Director, ProGaming Co., Ltd.
  • Mr. Akkasit Trungkanon (ICT Alumnus # Batch 1), Chief Technical Officer, Course Square Co., Ltd.
  • Mr. Chanakarn Chinchatchawal (ICT Alumni # Batch 7), Chief Executive Officer, Robolingo Co., Ltd. (Zwiz.AI)
  • Mr. Siriparn Sinchermsiri (ICT Alumni # Batch 2), Chief Technical Officer, Trinity Roots Co., Ltd. (Roots)

At the end of this seminar, Assoc. Prof.Jens Krinke, UCL, UK, gave a special talk on, “The state-of-the-art techniques in automated software engineering”.

A seminar “Where Are We and Where Should We Go? Software Quality Improvement for Software SMEs in Thailand” is a part of the research project, “Automated Software Engineering for Thailand Software Industry (IAPP18-19\74)”, conducted by the Software Engineering Research Unit (SERU), the Faculty of ICT, Mahidol University, funded by Royal Academy of Engineering, UK and the Office of the Science Promotion Commission Research and Innovation (OSMEP), Thailand. The objective of it is to study the challenges and propose a guideline to improve working processes of SME software industry in Thailand by using automated software.
