Mahidol University, with the support of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (TSU), organized the opening ceremony of the AI research center, “Mahidol AI Center,” at the Faculty of ICT, to upgrade research to a national network

On March 2, 2022, Prof. Dr. Siriruek Songsiwilai, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (TSU) presided over the opening ceremony of “Mahidol AI Center” at the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), Salaya campus. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Banchong Mahaisavariya, President of Mahidol University, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chuthamanee Suthisisang, Mahidol University’s Vice President; Asst. Prof. Dr. Thatchavee Leelawat, Vice President for Information and Kanchanaburi Campus; Prof. Dr. Chartchalerm Isarankura-Na-Ayudhya, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Technology; Dr. Yoschanan Wongsawat, Director of Institute for Technology and Innovation Management (iNT); Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (ICT); Ms. Nadda Jehyode, Director of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation Development 1; Ms. Nuannit Hongprapawong, Executive Vice President – Sales & Commercial Group, G-able Co., Ltd.; Ms. Pankaew Sihawong, Territory Account Manager – Thailand, NVIDIA Co., Ltd. and others.

“Mahidol AI Center” is located in the Innovative Space on the first floor of the Faculty of ICT, Mahidol University. It was established to drive research as well as medical research with a focus on genomics, proteomics, pathology, and radiology. This will allow for federated learning research collaboration and will allow researchers to solve difficult problems on modern hardware and software platforms. The Mahidol AI Center will initially support projects from the Artificial Intelligence Medical Diagnostic Excellence Group, Computing Life Sciences Center, and Artificial Intelligence for Drug Discovery Platform. In the early stages, this is a collaboration between the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, the Faculty of Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Dentistry, the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, and Ratchasuda College Mahidol University. In the future, the collaboration will be expanded to other faculties and institututes within the university.
