On April 23, 2025, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), in collaboration with the Western Digital (Thailand) Co., Ltd., organized an academic seminar on “HDD Technology: Timeless Science Meets Modern Manufacturing and Data Past, Present and Future.” In this regard, Dr. Mak Chee Wai, Senior Director, Global Operations Workforce of the Future, from the Western Digital (Thailand) Co., Ltd., served as a keynote speaker. He shared his insightful knowledge on the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) data storage technology with faculty members, staff, and students of Mahidol University, as well as interested individuals. The event took place in Room IT331, 3rd Floor, ICT Building, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus.
The seminar was designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the history of HDD data storage technology, the significant changes of the manufacturing industry, and the management of data in the present world. Furthermore, the session also explored the future of data storage technologies, including developments and innovations that will keep this technology relevant in a world where storage solutions are evolving rapidly.
