Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center publicized an interview for the “Development of Swamp Buffalo Identification Method Using Biometric Feature” research project

On 1 July 2022 – the Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center publicized an interview about the research project titled “Development of Swamp Buffalo Identification Method Using Biometric Feature.” Associate Professor Dr. Worapan Kusakunniran, Faculty Member at the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol) and Head of the Machine Vision and Information Transfer Lab (MVIT), explained that the biometric feature is a widely acceptable way to authenticate identification in official documents. In addition, it could also be applied to identify swamp buffalos in medical sciences.

The project was supported by Agricultural Research Development Agency (ARDA) and True Lab Research Fund. After its partial success, it was experimented to identify swamp buffalos in livestock and public health by the Faculty of Veterinary, Mahidol University, Surin Agricultural Research and Development Center, and Dairy Farming Promotion Organization of Thailand. Additionally, the project was acclaimed for the Outstanding Research Award for the fiscal year 2022 by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT).
