ICT Mahidol instructors received congratulatory bouquets from MU President on the occasion of winning awards from the “Invention and Innovation Contest, Fiscal year 2023”, and being recognized as Mahidol University’s Top 1% Researcher 2023

On March 22, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Worapan Kusakunniran, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suppawong Tuarob, ICT Mahidol instructors, received congratulatory bouquets from Prof. Banchong Mahaisavariya, President of Mahidol University, on the occasion of winning awards from the “Invention and Innovation Contest, Fiscal year 2023”. Whist, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Worapan Kusakunniran also received a certificate and a congratulatory bouquet for being 1 of Mahidol University Top 1% Researchers 2023 at Professor Emeritus Natee Rukspollmuang Conference Room, Office of the President, Mahidol University, Salaya.

During 2 to 6 February 2023, Associate Professor Dr. Worapan Kusakunniran and Associate Professor Dr. Suppawong Tuarob, showcased their works, at the “Thailand Inventors’ Day 2023”, which was organized by the National Research Council of Thailand, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, and other related sectors, with the theme of “Driving Thai Economy and Society Through Inventions and Innovations” at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC).

The works which received awards which were presented by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn are as follows:

  • Good Level of Invention Award in Information Technology and Communication Arts:

1) PSIMILAN: A data processing and visualization system for PSychological Impact on Mental health using LArge-scale social Networks” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suppawong Tuarob (Supervisor), ICT Mahidol Instructor, together with Dr. Tanisa Tawichsri, Senior Researcher, Puey Ungphakorn Institute for Economic Research, Dr. Thanapon Noraset, ICT Mahidol Instructor, Mr. Krittin Chatrinan, a Master Degree student in Computer Science, ICT Mahidol, Mr. Anon Kangpanich, and Mr. Tanawin Wichit, alumni of ICT Mahidol (International Program).

2) “3D Digital Evaluation and Custom-Made Nasal Splint for Cleft Lip/Palate Patients” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Worapan Kusakunniran, ICT Mahidol Instructor and Head of Machine Vision and Information Transfer Research Lab (MVIT Lab), together with Asst. Prof. Nutcha Yodrabum, Siriraj Piyamaharajkarun Hospital, and Dr. Irin Chaikangwan, Siriraj Hospital, as well as Mr. Rachata Tachavijijaru, a Master Degree student in Game Technology and Gamification, ICT Mahidol.

  • Good Level of Research Award in Information Technology and Communication Arts:

1) “A 3D Deep Learning Approach to Epicardial Fat Segmentation in Non-Contrast and Post-Contrast Cardiac CT Images” by Prof. Dr. Thanongchai Siriapisith, M.D., Department of Radiology, the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Worapan Kusakunniran, ICT Mahidol Instructor and Head of Machine Vision and Information Transfer Research Lab (MVIT Lab), as well as Prof. Dr. Peter Fereed Haddawy, Deputy for Research, ICT Mahidol.

2) “Water Level Prediction Using Image Data from Surveillance Cameras and History Data of Rainfall, Cumulative Rainfall and River Water Heights for Disaster Management” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Worapan Kusakunniran, ICT Mahidol Instructor and Head of Machine Vision and Information Transfer Research Lab (MVIT Lab), together with Miss Punyanuch Borwarnginn, Ph.D. student of Computer Science Program, ICT Mahidol.

In addition, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Worapan Kusakunniran has been recognized as Mahidol University’s Top 1% Researcher 2023. The selection process relies on criteria related to published works in international databases.

The Faculty of ICT would like to offer its congratulations to both instructors for receiving such honorable awards.
