ICT Mahidol Dean participated in a meeting to raise awareness and strive towards the development of Digital ID, with the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA)

On August 24, 2023, Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, the Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology at Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), along with Asst. Prof. Thatchavee Leelawat, Ph.D., Vice President for Information Technology and Kanchanaburi Campus, as well as faculty members and representatives from the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, attended a meeting to discuss raising awareness and striving towards the development of Digital ID, Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI), and Verifiable Credentials (VC). This meeting was organized by the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) and took place at Walk the Talk Conference Room, 15th floor, the 9th Towers, Grand Rama 9 (Building B).

During this meeting, there was a discussion about the basic roles and significance of Digital ID, specifically in the forms of Self-Sovereign Identity and Verifiable Credentials. These technologies have a far-reaching impact across various sectors and will shape the future activities of the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA). Additionally, this initiative was undertaken to promote the adoption of Verifiable Credentials for Medical Certificates and Transcripts in both the public and private sectors.

This project represents a partnership between ETDA and Frontis Co., Ltd., where Frontis Co., Ltd. serves as the project’s consulting partner. ETDA has conducted research on the development mechanism and has fostered an environment conducive to the use of Digital ID within both government and private organizations.
