ICT Mahidol instructors served as guest speakers in the seminar “Directions for the Development of New-Generation Electronic Travel Documents in Thailand”

On September 26, 2023 – the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), led by Dr. Ittipon Rassameeroj, Assistant Dean for Infrastructure and Technology, Dr. Chaiyong Ragkhitwetsagul, as well as Dr. Songpon Teerakanok, Instructors of Computer Science group, as the representatives of the advisory team to the project responsible for the production and provision of the electronic passport (E-Passport), 3rd phrase, served as guest speakers in the seminar “Directions for the Development of New-Generation Electronic Travel Documents in Thailand”. On this occasion, Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Vice Minister for Foreign Affair, and Mr. Rooge Thammongkol, Director – General of the Department of Consular Affairs, delivered opening speeches at the Siam Hall, Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai. Over 140 participants from various relevant organizations and sectors attended the event.

The main objective of this seminar, organized by the the Department of Consular Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was to exchange ideas and recommendations about Thai travel documents and their future direction. It aimed to promote the involvement of external stakeholders and foster transparency in the development of travel document services, ultimately leading to the introduction of a new generation of Thai electronic passports (E-Passports) which expected to be in use by the year 2025.
